Me and my blog…

"Binding with briars my joys and desires" although these words were written long ago, they offer an apt metaphor for this blog. I pour out short stories, fairly rapidly, and the decision to release them on a blog was a difficult one. I’m a firm believer in pen and paper and old, old books so framing these pictures of my soul with the anathema of the internet is incongruous for me. Hence, the briars binding my joys and desires.

My name is May. I am a student of English literature. For some reason I continue to do degrees, despite the heaving fear and anxiety and misery! I work as a part time sales assistant too, which mostly pays for my frugal existence but makes the horror of literary theory fade to insignificance in comparison. At university, I am mainly interested in Old and Middle English literature; I read it, I read about it, I write about it and I’m fairly successful at it. I do love to read though… anything and everything… as long as it’s good. The aim of this blog, is not to complain about the pros and cons of being an English student but to get some of my creative writing "out there". My long suffering boyfriend is desperately trying to initiate me in "teh internetz". Well, I’m trying!
So, every week I’ll be posting something new on "Binding with briars". It might be good. It might be bad. Please read and let me know.
